Rhythm Section 10 Year

Anniversary

Client project

Project Overview: During my Internship at StudioAOK, I was tasked with creating an animation that would bring Rhythm Sections new limited edition vinyl’s to life to celebrate their three chapters PAST, REIMAGINED and FUTURE for their 10 year anniversary.

Concept and Techniques: The main concept for this project was to showcase their new vinyl’s and packaging by having the vinyl’s have dynamic and quick movements to suit the tone of their music, in a sense to have them in the vinyl’s box primed and excited to dance. I used paths and empty’s to animate on blender’s animation tab enhancing the movement of the vinyl’s.

Challenges and Learning: One challenge that I had learned from during this project was on the fourth scene, I wanted to create an animation like that with different colour vinyl’s but when testing to do it with an array modifier , I wasn’t able to have vinyl’s with different colours, so to counter that I had animated one vinyl and duplicated multiple others behind it with different colours and timings to get the scene that I wanted.

aok? hat

Client project

Project Overview: During my internship at StudioAOK, I was tasked by my internship company to create a model and an animation for their brand new limited edition STUDIO “AOK?” CAP.

Concept and Techniques: The main concept for this project was to showcase StudioAOK’s brand new cap by having the cap be a statement piece floating in the sky, being free within the clouds with the adjacent question of “AOK?” to portray the question of are you okay?. Mixing this the cloud typography design with a light blue sky creates this dreamy aesthetic to showcase the cap.

Challenges and Learning: One challenge that I had learned from during this project was getting the clouds to look more realistic for the clients taste, so instead of creating clouds within blender I thought to get high definition transparent images of clouds to include in the scenes instead.

Love Yourz

A journey through surreal environments

Project Overview: "Love Yourz" is a short film created as part of a project at Hyper Island. The film explores themes of environmental change through surreal environments, serving as the focus while following our character's journey of self-discovery.

Concept and Themes: The central theme of "Love Yourz" is environmental change, depicted through otherworldly landscapes. The environments are designed to be both beautiful and unsettling, reflecting the complexities and consequences of human impact on nature. The character's journey symbolises a quest for understanding and connection with the environment.

Challenges and Learning: Creating the environments for "Love Yourz" was my first foray into using Blender for procedural generation. It was challenging but also very rewarding.

This project was an opportunity to learn and experiment with creating complex, surreal landscapes that evoke a sense of introspection.

red bull

Self Initated

Project Overview: This short spec promo for Red Bull was created to test my abilities in commercial work. The goal was to showcase my skillset through techniques like depth of field and slow-motion animation.

Concept and Techniques: The promo focuses on enhancing the visual appeal of a Red Bull can surrounded by ice. I experimented with depth of field to create a more dynamic & professional look and slow motion to highlight the details of the ice and can.

Challenges and Learning: This project allowed me to refine my commercial animation skills and learn new techniques. Balancing technical accuracy with creative visuals was both challenging and rewarding.

rhythm section

anniversary project

Client project

Project Overview: I was hired by studio AOK to celebrate the anniversary of the iconic Rhythm Section brand. Given a limited edition remixed identity, I infused the project with high energy and vibrant colours.

Concept and Techniques: 3D Logo Transformation: I turned the anniversary 2D logo into a dynamic 3D version, enlarging it and making it appear as if it were bursting out of the two ovals, ready to dance. The use of energetic colours and dynamic design elements honours both the milestone and the brand's lively essence.

Challenges and Learning: Creating a 3D logo that stayed true to the brand while adding a sense of movement and excitement was a key challenge. This project enhanced my skills in 3D design and brand identity.

Black puffer promo for adidas

Self initiated

Project Overview: A short spec promo for Adidas was created to experiment with cloth simulation and expand my commercial work portfolio. The focus was on replicating the quilted, puffy look of a black puffer jacket.

Concept and Techniques: My first attempt at creating realistic cloth textures and movement. Used 5-point lighting to highlight the material and enhance the visual appeal of the jacket.

Challenges and Learning: The main challenge was mastering cloth simulation to achieve a realistic quilted look. This project allowed me to develop new technical skills and explore advanced lighting techniques.

Air jordan 1

Self initiated

Project Overview: Promo for the Air Jordan 1, one of my favourite shoes, was created to enhance my commercial work portfolio. The project involved animating the shoe to showcase its iconic design.

Concept and Techniques: Created and animated pillars to uplift the shoe, emphasising its significance and style. Downloaded and animated the Air Jordan 1 model to rise simultaneously with the pillars.

Challenges and Learning: The project challenged me to synchronise the movements of the pillars and the shoe, ensuring a smooth and visually appealing animation. It helped me improve my skills in object animation and synchronisation.

Morph

Self initiated

Project Overview: "Morph" was a project I embarked on while first learning Blender. It involved creating animations using curve spirals and simple deform modifiers to achieve a fluid visual effect.

Concept and Techniques: Used curve spirals as the foundational elements of the animation. Applied and animated three different simple deform modifiers to create the look of the project.

Challenges and Learning: As my initial foray into Blender, this project was a learning experience in using curve spirals and deformation techniques. It helped me understand the basics of animation and modeling within Blender.

Moody Typography

Self initiated

Project Overview: "Moody Typography" marks my first venture into animated 3D typography. I created this project after completing a typography course at Cabeza Patata's "Patata School."

Concept and Techniques: Developed animated 3D text with a wavey aesthetic. Applied techniques and knowledge gained from the typography course to create the animation.

Challenges and Learning: The project was a learning experience in 3D typography animation. It allowed me to apply new skills and understand how to create visually engaging text animations.

swirl

Self initiated

Project Overview: "Swirl" is a looping animation project created using dynamic paint and constraints in Blender.

Concept and Techniques: Utilised paint to create fluid, swirling patterns, that reminded me of delicious strawberry and vanilla ice cream. Applied constraints to control the movement and ensure a seamless loop.

Challenges and Learning: This project taught me how to effectively use dynamic paint and constraints in Blender.

Flowerboy

Self initiated

Project Overview: "Flowerboy" is an animation project inspired by Tyler The Creator's album "Flowerboy." I created the illustrations in Adobe Illustrator and animated them using After Effects.

Concept and Techniques: The project draws visual and thematic inspiration from the "Flowerboy" album. Crafted detailed illustrations in Adobe Illustrator, reflecting the album's aesthetic. Brought the illustrations to life using After Effects.

Challenges and Learning: The project involved integrating illustration and animation, enhancing my skills in both areas. It required careful attention to maintaining the album's unique style while creating engaging motion graphics.
